The Canadian Startup Visa Program is designed for foreign entrepreneurs with innovative, job-creating business ideas that can compete on a global scale. Unlike other programs, the SUV is a direct pathway to Permanent Residence for individuals (or groups of up to five owners) who secure support from a designated Canadian organization.
This program is tailored for visionaries who want to launch their business while immediately securing PR status for themselves and their family.
To qualify for the Start-up Visa Program, you must meet four non-negotiable requirements:
Your business must meet these conditions
You must secure a Letter of Support from one of the designated organizations approved by the Government of Canada. This support demonstrates the viability of your business idea.
| Designated Organization Type | Minimum Investment/Commitment |
| Venture Capital Fund | Must commit at least $200,000 CAD. |
| Angel Investor Group | Must commit at least $75,000 CAD. |
| Business Incubator | Must accept you into their business incubation program (no minimum investment required). |
You must achieve a minimum Canadian Language Benchmark (CLB) 5 in all four abilities (reading, writing, listening, and speaking) in either English or French.
The SUV process is unique because the business evaluation happens before the immigration application.
